I’m not gonna lie…
When I went to Loehmann’s in San Ramon for the LAST TIME today, I got a little emotional. Ok…I cried. Why? The store is closing!! (Don’t laugh)
Here’s the deal…I have been a Loehmann’s–the original designer discount retailer–customer for literally 30 years! My dear friend, Lisa, introduced me to the store during our freshman year of college at ASU. And ever since, I’ve been hooked.
Finding the perfect gift for “her” can sometimes be overwhelming. What to choose? Something extravagant or practical? Unexpected or a specific item? Or maybe, he’ll be off the hook, and she’ll pick it up herself while she’s buying the rest of the Christmas gifts? A recent survey showed that nine out of ten women agree that jewelry is ALWAYS an acceptable holiday gift. Here are a few ideas:
The staff at Saks Off 5th welcomed the Sisterhood of Beth Chaim Congregation for a shopping event. Marketing manager, Denah Shane, shared examples of designer brands (from Chanel to Marc Jacobs) at bargain prices. Ladies sipped, snacked and shopped after I offered tips on “how to navigate the outlets”. Everyone left with fab finds and they saved big bucks, too!
In my job as a wardrobe stylist and personal shopper, I’ve heard it a hundred times: ”I hate my clothes…my closet is so boring!” And even before I’ve seen the wardrobe, I can predict what’s there: solid neutrals. Bottoms are khaki, black, white and denim. The tops are grey, white, black and brown. The jackets, sweaters, dresses and shoes …everything is neutral! Of course it’s boring, what else could it be? So, what’s a girl to do? Four simple words:
Color, texture, pattern and shine.
