When the temperature rises, staying cool AND looking cute can be a challenge…but not for these ladies! The trick is minimal items of clothing…a sundress (one piece only) with flats or wedges is the perfect hot weather ensemble. Two pieces, like shorts and a loosy-goosy silk top, look HOT when combined with the right accessories—stylish sandals and sunglasses.

Sadly, sometimes women give up on fashion. For a mature woman, say 60+, it’s certainly understandable when the trends are showing low-rise, skinny jeans or booty-skimming bandage skirts–styles that are designed more for twenty-somethings, rather than “grown-up” women. It can be frustrating to find clothes that are stylish, age-appropriate and flattering for their body-type. So, when I spotted the following ladies in my travels this summer, I was impressed with their individual sense of style.
Why go barefoot this summer when there are so many cute shoes to choose from? Just like clothing trends for spring, color is a major player this season. Don’t worry about busting your budget either—great summer shoes and sandals can be found at any price point from bargain city to super-chic designer versions. Take a look at the best of the summer: Bright flat sandals can be worn as a neutral. Introducing this “pop of color” is a great way to make a plain outfit extra snazzy.
When posed with the dilemma of what to wear to a monthly meeting or school function or volunteer shift, the Vista Oak NCL patronesses have it all figured out. Sometimes, the location of a meeting (ie: country club) has wardrobe restrictions…mainly, a NO denim policy. That can be frustrating…we rely so heavily on our jeans, don’t we? I recently presented “Update Your Style/Wardrobe Essentials” to the chapter, and was delighted to see how they (effortlessly!) solved the age-old quandary: What do I wear to a meeting when I can’t (or don’t want to) wear jeans?
